Apprenticeship vs School
The Apprenticeship
Pros: You will receive dedicated one-on-two training from a licensed instructor with experience in at full time salon and educating. You will have personalized help with your clients and the ability to build your clientele while in training. PLUS, once 10% of your hours are completed, you are will receive 100% compensation for you services!
You are guaranteed to learn the most current and advanced nail methods with the finest products available while in our course. Our curriculum and kit is updated at the beginning of every single course, making sure you receive the most up to date information. You will have a head start in your career by having a complete kit of top of the line products, long lasting equipment, and a current and individualized nail education.
Not only do we help you with building a clientele that will stay with you long term, we also offer job assistance when you are nearing your graduation date. It is reasonable to leave our training making $30+/hour based on your skill level*. You will be shown the exact path to grow your clientele quickly, and turn that into a highly successful career for years to come.
Cons: Tuition is a larger investment in the beginning, and traditional student loans are not accepted, but a payment plan can be set up. The state does require more hours for an apprentice (375) then a nail school student (300), but you will learn a larger skillset.
Traditional Nail School
Pros: School is a great way to earn your nail license quickly with a small beginning investment. Grants, scholarships and student loans are usually available to help with tuition and the school schedule can be flexible with yours.
Cons: Typically you are in a class of 10+ students per one instructor. The school sets your client pricing based as a whole, not on an individual’s skill, and the student receives no compensation for the services offered (not allowed by the state). The student kit given by a school is usually very small with low-grade nail products due to a lower tuition fee. A schools curriculum is usually based off the states curriculum suggestions only, not necessarily on current nail trends and techniques. Typically, upon leaving school more education is required on the students part with additional product and equipment investments in order to start a successful nail career.
The Takeaway
While an apprenticeship is a higher investment than traditional nail school, the education and kit the student receives are vastly different. While neither route can guarantee your success (it’s ultimately up to you), our apprenticeship course offers you a definite advantage and equips you with all the right tools and knowledge to put your best foot forward.
